You may recall my blog post “Start with Sleep” just a few weeks ago.  Well, I came across this interview with Ariana Huffington where she also talks about the importance of getting enough sleep.

She’s written a book (which I’m now reading) that goes into quite a lot of depth (citing many studies) about the positive effects of getting enough sleep along with the many negative effects of not getting enough sleep.  Interestingly she writes about all the things I discovered from first hand experience, but from the point of view of many scientific studies.  For some reason it seems most people feel the need to have a scientific study to confirm what they already know and feel in their bodies.  I say we try to make that connection with our bodies and listen to what it is trying to tell us.

I think this interview is worth your time:

To be honest I’m actually listening to her book.  I find I’m so tired by the end of the day that when I try to read I last about five minutes before my eyes start to close.  So nowadays I actually “read” books in my car.  I listen to them that is.  It’s quite wonderful, it keeps the mind busy, I like to think of it as a bit of a meditation and I also feel like I’m making good use of the time I spend driving around.

One can often find audio books at the library and then just download them onto iTunes.  I recently discovered audiobooks.com which is quite handy and you get your first book free.  Sometimes I’ll read a book and also listen to it in the car at the same time, that way I really take it in.

Well, I hope you’ll watch the video, read the book or at the very least strive to get at least 8 hours of sleep a night.

Sweet Dreams!
